All About That Face - Skin Care with Northshore Plastic Surgery
Are you looking for ways to tighten loose facial skin or smooth wrinkles? If so, we can help. No one likes to hear there isn’t a way to stop your skin from aging, but we sure have several ways to prevent our skin from looking so. As we get older our skins appearance changes, losing elasticity over time, developing brown spots or crapiness around the eyes. Northshore Plastic Surgery offers a layout of different options to correct and enhance your facial features from injectibles like Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse, Sculptra, Bellafill and Restalyne that fall into the family of fillers or Botox and Dysport that are neurotoxins. It doesn’t stop with only injections. We also offer CO2 Laser Resurfacing and the Phenol Peel.
Injections to some can be a bit terrifying and even more so when you hear the word neurotoxin. Neurotoxin is the classification in which Botox and Dysport fall under. We often get the common question of which is better and personally there is not one because we get amazing feedback from both FDA approved products. When injected, Botox and Dysport paralyze some of the facial muscles causing them to relax temporarily. This causes the wrinkles in your forehead, glabella, crows feet, and “bunny lines” on the nose to smooth. These injections are usually very quick and painless.
Now that we’ve talked about those wrinkles on the upper half of the face we can discuss concerns you may have with the lower areas. Nasolabial folds around the mouth, fine smokers lines, sunken appearance under the eye, or loss of volume in the cheeks can all be corrected with the dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are a way to truly get a part of your youthful appearance to bounce back. When you call into Northshore Plastic Surgery we set you up with a complimentary consultation where Dr. Boudreaux will personally assess the needs you have for your face while suggesting which products will work best and where.
Restalyne & Restalyne Silk are dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid, when injected they cause the skin to plump enabling a more youthful appearance. Restalyne has been very effective for improving wrinkles and creases around the mouth. Ask us about Restalyne Silk which has had defining results for those patients that are interested in not only more volume but would like more definition around the lip line.
Juvederm’s smooth injectible gel is also a hyaluronic acid. Juvederm has 3 different types of fillers that we carry. Juvederm Ultra can correct moderately deep facial wrinkles or add volume to the cheeks and lips. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a slightly thicker formula that is intended for deeper facial folds like those around the mouth. Juvederm Voluma is the newest approved injectible filler that compliments the cheek area with maximum results.
Radiesse is a calcium based filler meaning it encourages production of your natural collagen. This alone sets this filler aside from the others because of its collagen stimulation. Radiesse compliments the nasolabial folds and mid face areas to give a superior lift lasting one year or longer.
Sculptra is one of the first injectibles that will give you subtle results by gradually building up lost collagen in the face. Sculptra is done in sessions over three months that allow you to have a more natural appearance rather than immediate result. This treatment can last up to two years.
Bellafill is one of the newest smooth, collagen-based fillers that we offer for facial rejuvenation. This filler has PMMA microspheres. These microspheres help to re-create the formation of your natural collagen decreasing any visual aging signs like wrinkles and smile lines.
With injections being one form of facial rejuvenation, Laser’s and Peels are another. The Fractionated CO2 laser and the Phenol Peel are two of our most powerful, minimally invasive treatments to refresh your skin. If having 5-14 days of down time is something you wouldn’t mind in order to have visually long-lasting results then this is a perfect option for you to consider. Our Fractionated CO2 Laser is a carbon dioxide laser treatment that improves the most superficial to the even deeper lines. This laser treatment will promote skin tightening, fade away acne scars, and rid your face, neck, chest or hands of any sun damage and pigmentation. The down time with this treatment is typically five to ten days. Phenol is the deepest form of a chemical peel offering the most dramatic results in resurfacing. The Phenol – Croton Oil is known well for its phenomenal results of removing facial wrinkles and especially those in the perioral or “smokers lines” area. The down time for this peel can be slightly more extensive than the CO2 laser requiring about 7 to 14 days of down time depending on the depth of treatment. Over this period of “sluffing” during that down time phase you will be sent home with a suggested regimen to cleanse and hydrate, this is very vital to your healing process.
The key to maintain results from these splendid treatments are keeping up with a product regimen and to be put on maintenance plans recommended by either of our estheticians. Dr. Boudreaux recommends all patients to follow up after any type of laser or peel to be seen and evaluated by our advanced Medical Estheticians. If you are new to our practice they will spend one hour with you to personalize a treatment plan and get you set up with a choice of products handpicked for your skin type.
