Botox - Don't be misled By Benjamin J Boudreaux M.D. on February 16, 2017

Injections are a hot topic among men and women when it comes to anti-aging. We start to see tiny lines form across our forehead, in between our eyes (Glabella) or around the eyes (crow’s feet). If you’ve been looking for a way to prevent these from forming or becoming increasingly prominent, Botox may be a simple fix for you.

Luckily, If you start taking care of your skin (there are many factors that fall into this category) at an early age, you will be thankful later in life. Taking iniative to understand the benefits of injectable procedures is a great start. This can be as simple as scheduling a quick consultation. At Northsore Plastic Surgery, Tiffany Houser, ANP and Benjamin Boudreaux, MD both offer these services and can help you decide if injectables are right for what concerns you. Understanding this will do for you will be extremely beneficial.

How does it work?

Botox works by blocking the nerves that contract muscles. In turn causing these muscles to have limited activity. By relaxing the muscles, you dimish the wrinkles formed when making facial expressions because these are the ones causing your lines. It does not limit it so much to where it prevents expression. When done correctly, very few people are able to recognize that you’ve had this procedure but can simply notice you have a more rested, youthful look. Unfortunately, getting facial injections can be misconstrued as “looking fake”. Dr. Benjamin Boudreaux and Tiffany Houser, ANP are very attentive when it comes to what the patients are looking for. They can customize injectable treatments by adjusting the dosage according to the areas you want corrected.

Keep in mind that everyone responds to treatments differently. The dose your friend gets to achieve optimal results may be different than the dose you need. Every patient is assessed individually and dosage is determined by condition and response.

How long does it last?

Many will start to see some results within a few days and final result at two weeks. Effects of the product can last up to 3 to 4 months. Most patients will come in around the four-month mark, or sooner if they notice the result starts wearing off. Maintaining your injections can be an investment and you will want to re-treat the areas as they gradually return. Facial lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time as your muscles are being trained to relax.
